The nursery is situated in the heart of the Lakegrounds in Portishead, on the corner of Lake Road and the Esplanade. There is plenty of free parking in the immediate area, as well as a drop off zone outside the nursery gates.
Founded in 2011, Lakehouse provides Outstanding care and education for children from 3 months to 5 years old in an engaging and nurturing environment. Sister to Stationhouse Nursery on the high street, this former Victorian home was specifically chosen for the large gardens and proximity to the lake grounds and green open spaces which are all right on our doorstep. We are active members of our community, supporting and working with local charities including Portishead in Bloom and Turn the Tide.
At Lakehouse we have 4 engaging playrooms that are full of wonderful and unusual resources for the children to explore. A large proportion of time is spent outside, whatever the weather, in our large, enclosed gardens.
The children love exploring the well-established gardens that provide year-round interest in the seasons and are home to the tamest starlings and wildlife ever! The archway joining the baby and toddler garden looks like a scene out of the secret garden and the children can test out their climbing skills in the trees too. We also have nursery pets which the children are encouraged to care for, learning about responsibility, and being caring and gentle.
We will provide nappies, wipes and nappy cream.
We provide healthy meals and snacks as well as fresh water and milk. Our menus are seasonal and are certified by a children’s dietician ensuring the right balance of ingredients for the children. All dietary requirements are catered for by our professional chefs.
Our outdoor space offers an environment to explore and develop and provides a place where imagination comes to life.
Nursery fees are dependent on the age of your child and your specific childcare requirements. Funding options are available, including the government’s 15 and 30 hours funded childcare, and we also accept the Government Tax Free Childcare Scheme and childcare vouchers.

Hi! I’m Emma and I have been at Lakehouse since May 2011. In my time here I have held every role imaginable and therefore know the nursery inside and out! I have a huge passion for the early years and the immeasurable role they play in building well-rounded children and adults of the future. I want children to leave here as confident, curious, and creative learners, having had the best possible start to their care and education.
I hold a Level 5 qualification in Early Childhood Studies, and a BSc (Hons) in Psychology. I have a strong interest in children’s cognition, development, and behaviour, and all that impacts it; a curiosity that I encourage in my whole staff team. Due to this, your child will receive a unique experience here, one tailored very much to their individual needs and fascinations.

Hello, my name is Rebecca, and I am the Deputy Nursery Leader at Lakehouse. I have worked in a childcare setting since 2015 and I have been working at Lakehouse now since 2018, where I have worked my way from up from being a practitioner, based mainly in the toddler room (2-3 year olds). I am currently Level 3 qualified but in the process of completing my Level 5 Lead Practitioner qualification.
My main passion is for children to have pure fun, whilst providing endless learning opportunities and experiences. I have a key interest in widening my knowledge in children’s development and building strong parent partnerships with entire families. Having 2 children of my own, I have valuable insight on parental perspectives, as well as the knowledge and experience as an early years practitioner to provide the best care to your children.
Our nursery has a lovely family feel which makes it a wonderful place for your child to grow, learn and play. We have a passionate team, who aim to create something special and different, ensuring all children are nurtured, cared for, and inspired with their individual needs in mind.
